Get To Know China's Hydropower Plants----Huangdeng Hydropower Station

 Introduction

At 00:00 on January 1, 2019, four units of Dahuabiao, Huangdeng, Wulonglong and Lidi hydropower stations with a total of 1,092,500 kilowatts were successfully put into operation.

The four units put into operation on the same day once again refreshed the world hydropower  commissioning record of "one-day double commissioning" set by the company on July 12, 2018.

So far, all eight units of Huangdeng and Dahuaqiao hydropower stations have been put into operation. The total installed capacity has reached 24,992,800 kilowatts, the asset size has exceeded 180 billion yuan, and the cumulative power generation has exceeded 570 billion kilowatt hours.

Geographic location.

Huangdeng Hydropower Station is located in Lanping County, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is developed by dike and dam, and is the fifth stage hydropower station in the hydropower ladder development program of the upper reaches of the Lancang River in Yunnan Province from Gushui to Miaowei River, mainly for power generation.

Installed capacity.

On August 16, 2018, Unit 3 of Huangdeng Hydropower Station, constructed by Hydropower Bureau XIV, passed the 72-hour trial run in one go, and was officially handed over to the power plant and put into commercial operation.

Upstream of Toba Hydropower Station, downstream of which is connected with Dahuaqiao  hydropower Station, the dam site is located upstream of Yingpan Town, Huangdeng Hydropower Station has an installed capacity of 1900MW (4×475MW), with a guaranteed output of 507.95MW and an annual power generation capacity of 8.629 billion kWh.

So far, the power station has achieved the nodal target of power generation of the first 3 units. Huangdeng Hydropower Station Unit 3 is in a very stable state of trial operation, achieving water filling, start-up, grid connection and 72-hour trial run successfully at one time.

During the trial run, the bearing tile temperature, vibration, swing and temperature of each part of the unit are better than the design requirements.

Up to now, Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3 have successfully achieved one-time start-up, passed all tests and passed 72-hour test run at one time.

Significance.

The Huangdeng Hydropower Dam, China's tallest crushed concrete gravity dam, stands at the foot of the Bilo Mountains in Lamping Bai Pumi Autonomous County, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture. Huangdeng Hydropower Station is the fifth level of hydropower station in the Lancang River Basin, and as the main power source for the "West-East Power Transmission" and Yunnan Province to build a world-class "green energy brand", the station has painted a picture of the Lancang River from construction to operation with the concept of green development. A poetic landscape picture.

When you go to Huangdeng Hydropower Station camp, there are some trees on both sides of the road that are surrounded by a retaining wall and enjoy "special treatment", which are rare trees left behind by the power station builders. According to the staff, terrestrial ecological demonstration park transplanted the national secondary key protection of wild plants and red hair Tsubaki, as well as part of the local narrow distribution of plants pointed leaves MuXiLan and QingXiangMu. "Pointed-leaf mignonette olive is a close relative of the Mediterranean edible oil olive, with similar value to wild rice gene conservation.
The fish lift is arranged at the tailwater mouth of the power station, using the power generation tailwater current to lure fish, using an automatic guide car to transport fish boxes, and when the dam lift finishes lifting the transfer across the dam, the fish carrier transports the fish to the reservoir rivers for release, truly automating the whole process of luring fish, catching fish, transporting fish and releasing fish. A way to pick up the steps, to Huangdeng Hydropower Station dam site downstream of the Lancang River upstream section of fish stocking station. Huangdeng Hydropower Station's artificial stocking activities are carried out once a year, and a total of 842,000 tails have been artificially released since the station was built, including 170,000 Lancang split-bellied fish and 270,000 grey split-bellied fish.

Water Turbine Design for Small Scale Hydro Energy

https://www.boland-hydroturbine.com/ Selecting the Best Type of Water Turbine Design Selecting the best type of water turbine design for your particular situation often depends on the amount of head and flow rate that is available at your particular location and whether it is at the side of a river or stream, or the water is to be channelled or piped directly to your location. Other factors include whether you want an enclosed “reaction turbine design” such as the Francis turbine or an open “impulse turbine design”, such as the Pelton turbine as well as the speed of rotation of your proposed electrical generator. By analysing all of these factors together you can get some indication of what type of  Water Turbine Design  may work best for your particular situation. Knowing the difference between a Pelton and Francis turbine for example, will help make the choice easier. The following table gives a basic idea of which particul

Types of Hydropower Plants

There are three types of hydropower facilities: impoundment, diversion, and pumped storage. Some hydropower plants use dams and some do not. The images below show both types of hydropower plants. MPOUNDMENT The most common type of hydroelectric power plant is an impoundment facility. An impoundment facility, typically a large hydropower system, uses a dam to store river water in a reservoir. Water released from the reservoir flows through a turbine, spinning it, which in turn activates a generator to produce electricity. The water may be released either to meet changing electricity needs or to maintain a constant reservoir level.                                                www.boland-hydroturbine.com DIVERSION A diversion, sometimes called run-of-river, facility channels a portion of a river through a canal or penstock. It may not require the use of a dam. PUMPED STORAGE Another type of hydropower called pumped

Hydropower, the only solution for cheapest power generation

https://www.boland-hydroturbine.com/ Hydropower has the lowest life-cycle cost of any power generation technology. Hydropower is a potential life-saver for Pakistan. Yet its development has been hampered for decades. Hence, only 15 percent of Pakistan’s over 60,000MW hydropower potential has been developed in 70 years. Hydropower plants power generation can give a country economy a new path of progress. Despite initial costs and long gestation periods, hydropower plants have almost no fuel cost and have operational lives of over a century. New hydropwer plants generate electricity at Rs6-10 per unit compared to thermal power plants’ Rs15-25 per unit. All other power-generating technologies have up to 30 years of project life and need up to four times expensive plant replacements in foreign exchange. Wind and solar technologies are solely dependent on the weather. They can at best supplement but not replace hydropower which, amo
